Hello, I want to buy a console but dont know which to get, never had a console:eek:

I use the pc mainly so it would be more for the mrs, well 50/50! Latest games are probably not needed, so ps3 for example comes with bf4 or fifa14, and the mrs would be playing tomb raider/batman and older games.

Also some internet and streaming from my pc would be good.

Dont think i need to buy a ps4/xbox one? or do i?

So do i get a ps3? and if so do i buy the cheapest new slim? 12gig i think?

Thanks in adv.

I'd probably opt for ps3 if you haven't owned one. You can get a load of excellent games and get a handy blu-ray player to boot. Just go for the cheapest tbh.

For me it boils down to the controller, 360's so much nicer in the hand than the ps3 one. Games wise they both have a huge selection although 360 does have kinect which my wife loves, as above you'd get a bluray player with the ps3 and content like tomb raider and batman is cross platform.

You wont go wrong with either :)

Find some mates who own a console, go round to their house and have a play. Buy which ever one you feel feels right. For me it was down to the feel of the controller.

If you hunt around you can get either an Xbox or PS3 for around £99. I like the Xbox for the controller but to be honest have never played a PS3. Unless theres a specific game thats tied to that console theres very little between them unless you need Blu Ray

Like the OP I have never owned a console but wanted one.
I play most games on a PC but there are a couple of titles I wanted on console. My friends mainly use PS3's so that's what I got.
I'm streaming my library from my PC to the PS3 happily and both the 12Gb version and slapped in a spare 320Gb 2.5% drive.

Tomb Raider and BF4 aren't on Wii U are they? :p

If you haven't owned a console before then the PS3 has an massive library of exclusives which the new consoles haven't had time to build up. Granted the 360 and Wii have exclusives too, but if your interested in Tomb Raider and Batman then IMO the PS3's exclusives would be more to your liking. And considering it's age you should be able to get a pretty impressive game library for not much money.

Well no but just giving a light hearted alternative, in the Wii U thread there are people with PS3. X360, Xbox One, Wii U, PS4 and they say they are using the Wii U more than anything.

Really want one myself and am just waiting to see a great deal on the 32GB Premium, Nintendo games offer something no other consoles can.

Wii U may not have those two games but it does have other great third party games like AC3/4, Batman Arkham City/Origins, Rayman Legends and will be getting Watch Dogs :)

At this point I'd probably opt for a PS3.

IMO, Free online play/Blu Ray player outweighs the 360's better controller for casual use. Almost every feature on the 360 is locked behind an XBOX LIVE paywall too.

I'm lucky enough to own every console except for the Xbone, if could only keep 1 it would be the PS3 with a PS+ sub. If I could keep 2 it would be the Wii U and 3 would be PS4 not really fussed about the 360 at all IMO the PS3 is much better and I don't mind the DS3 :)

Purely for games, i would go with the PS3 as it had the best exclusives by a country mile.

If you are wanting a good online experience, then the 360.

If your after games, i wouldn't bother with any of the new consoles just yet.
