Which CPU Cooler?

Hi,

I've got an overheating stock-clocked QX6800, currently with an old Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. What would be my best bet for an upgrade to try and get temperatures down? Been looking at the Titan Fenrir and Akasa Nero. Are there any other I should consider? Case is an old (1st gen) Stacker 830. Will be using AS5 as thermal compound.

Advice? Opinions?

no the copper is only slightly better than then TRUE Black, anyways if you can afford it get the corsair H50, if not try the Cogago True Spirit:D

The TRUE copper is no better than the black or standard version, but theyre all excellent coolers, also the copper model is extremely heavy and not ideal for hanging of a motherboard, ive used the black version for quite a while now and have been extremely impressed with it, certainly a fair bit better than the noctua nh-12p that i tried.

I just installed a new Zalman CNPS9500A-LED and it's fantastic so far. Better than an AC7Pro, and with a hefty price reduction from usual. Just in case you wanted to go for a cheaper option.

I like the look of the H50, anyone else have an opinion before I settle on it and start trying to work out how to mount the radiator in an 830 case?

From what I've read that the copper version is not much better than the black, copper is good at absorbing the heat but bad at dissipating the heat.

Ok, it's now down to two then, the corsair h50 with a push-pull fan configuration (ideas on fans please! - considering 2 x Kaze Maru) or a Prolimatech with a suitable fan (again ideas?)

i'd go for the Megahalems if i was you.

fans?..........well there's so many different types, after quite a bit of research plus what looked good as well, i went for Xigmatek, these fans i love; i dont want to purchase anything else....but Scythe are excellent fans too............ but if i was going to try any other fan i'd get a Delta, because this monster will kill temperatures TOTALLY.

but this fan will need careful setting up/ tuning, because it's damned noisy at full power.... i think i'll get one next month
