Which CPU?

Not a fan of benchmarks in general but just check this out

You'll note that for the majority of everyday general tasks the Athlon is either just a little under the 555 performance and in others it totaly spanks it.
If you want to have a dual core get the 555, because that is what it is... a dual core. If you get lucky ... hell it may unlock. It's a extra fiver odd and a chance you take. The Athlon is a quad and will always be a quad.

If you applied the same percentage of OC to both CPU's the Athlon would still spank the dual core 555

The 630 has been specified because with just a FSB adjustment and no voltage tweaking you can achieve the extra 200Mhz performance and save yourself 10 quid in the bargain :)

You already stated that you would consider going up to a X6 at some point so upgrading wise the AM3 route is more of a long term upgradeable route for the time being.
