Well it should be, if you actually use all those cors it's a beast. It's just to few people use them day to day hence the lower core/higherclock intel chips make more sense.

If it used less power it'd be great, but even as is I'd take it for my video encoding any day.

i5 2500K if you can afford it/look second hand

i3-2100/2120 if buying new and can't afford the i5

The 2120 is good for the price, to squeeze an i5 2500K in there would leave you with basically no money for a graphics card, which is not ideal.

Good point, I'll look further in to it, it all depends on the lowest price I can find.

Yeah if you can get one for ~£120 or less second hand [dunno how much second hand prices will drop with IB], go for it!

Free delivery was easy, only takes 3 or 4 days if you can stomach GD. Being 800 posts away from MM I still think it's a good idea to try and keep the riff raff out.
