Hi all.

Im planning on starting a new PC build within the next couple of weeks, it will be for gaming mainly.

Slightly confused weather I should get a skylake 6600k or a 4690k.
I will be overclocking the processor at some point aswell.

There doesnt seem to be much in price difference between the 2 processors.
Is it worth getting the skylake and ddr4 ram, or just stick with a 4690 and ddr3 ram?

Cheers

if you are starting from scratch then 6600k without question, but if u have say some ddr3 or a mboard then 4690k

:D

there is no need to buy a K chip with the new skylake cpus so could save a few £££'s getting one of them.

othere parts are the same cost
DDR3 and 4 are at the same sort of price, a good motherboard again z97 z170 are around £100 for a good board, so the only desiding factor her is the newer no K cpu is cheper than the 4690k, its faster than the 4690k and newer chip set is more future proof.

there is no reason now day to build an order gen system unless your upgrading or having to buy used

Cheers for your replies guys.

There is only a tenner difference between the K and non-K 6600 processors, so I think i'll just get the K chip which should help with overclocking, unless its really not worth the extra tenner?

Cheers for your replies guys.

I was going to be building the system slowly over a few pay checks as i dont have much money.

I'll take the 6400 into consideration.

Cheers

With having to disable the integrated graphics, I may have to save a little longer and buy a graphics card at the same time rather than at a later date.

Are there only a select few motherboards which can be unlocked to overclock the 6400 chips?
