Which DDR2 - PC2-6400 should i get?

yeah its pretty weird you getting nothing at all on screen, usually it would boot partially then freeze or something.

What I am confused with is that you say you upgraded to 2x1GB, but your screenshots show that the board is only running at single channel.
I would see if you can find a bios update for the board which might support ram better.
The latest BIOS on Lenovo support is 2PJT25A for the A53 Series Type 8980.
 
thanks for the reply El Watcher, yeah just tried that but it is the same version as the one i have got according to the bios when i tried to install it. however i updated the bios anyway and still no luck but this time whenever i go into system summary it does not display the memory channels.

thanks for the replies, but in the end i just returned the RAM as i couldn't get it too work at all but i hopefully will be buying an I5 or I7 bundle in the next few months.
