What the thread says on the tin really. Had my pc for a year and though its still fast I have noticed that it has started to slow down.

At the moment I use diskcleanup and the defrag tool which comes as default with windows 7.

Any other programmes that you guys would recommend that are better then these ? Thanks all.

I use the built in windows 7 one for my PC but my laptop which has vista installed wont let vista's defrag do it for one reason or another so i use the piriform defraggler on the laptop no problems.

I do not use any defrag tool. Since I changed to an SSD drive I have read that they can cause more issues than they resolve, even those that purport to be SSD aware.

No one else finds Defraggler to be slow sometimes? :)

That's why I changed. Defraggler took 12 hours to do 50% of 1 drive. So I gave MyDefrag a go, it did it in 1 hour. It was on a drive that was pretty full, so maybe MyDefrag is better in those situations.

AFAIK there's no evidence that using an alternative defragger as opposed to the default utility will make your system run even a fraction faster (which is supposedly the object of the exercise).

If I were you I'd avoid all the third-party snake oil and stick with the inbuilt defrag tool - it's designed to run on a schedule at low priority in the background, so just leave it to carry on about its business, unless you like watching little coloured blocks shuffling around. :)

O&O, i have been using it for years, its been great, i love doing a quick defrag to quickly tidy things up and schedule a full defrag once a week, if your pc is not on there is an option for it to run as soon as possible.

i tried defraggler and yes it took ages and its free but i went back to O&O
