Which doors??

I really like the dordogne, I don't think the house (circa 1960's) would pull off a shaker style, I think shaker is for tall ceilings / victorian places with ornate architrave where as all mine are plane bullnose

Dordogne,
the Shakers horizontal rails will collect dust and look grubby in a week.

besides, everyone shoves that Shaker look into their house, no matter what period it was built in

not that anyone gives a monkeys about design any more,
I like to look at new "executive" homes and guess just how many periods they bastardised to make their stupid design

Dordogne, decorated a house last week with dordogne oak doors, finished in clear satin varnish, looked very nice.

What about 2 coats of danish oil and briwax, that's whats on my windows and gives them a real depth, do you think oak will 'take' danish oil?

Yep, windows are very time consuming, only thing i hate about painting + decorating, got a job coming up soon at a house with over seventy sliding sash windows, painted white.:(

ooooooo daywork?

The pallets for mine clocked up 3.5t of windows 2 french doors 2 single doors 4 massive windows 2 big and 3 small 1000 x 600 ish, all triple glazed composite timber inside aluminium outside

No factory finishing so had to be lightly sanded washed in spirits then oiled x 2 then waxed, they were going to factory spray with a laquer / varnish but I think it made the sample look too plasticy and uniform, well chuffed with the result even after all that work
