Which driver for my SSD?

Hi Folks I have an Asus P5KPL-CM board and I've just ordered an OCZ Vertex 2E so was wondering should I just run with the default Windows 7 driver? I know some of you download specific drivers for your SSD's and wondered if I need to do the same? My board doesn't have AHCI so I'll just be running it on IDE mode if this makes a difference as to what driver I should use?

Thanks :)

Hey Phil, i also run my SSD in IDE mode(due to P5N-E SLI Mobo), but i just use the default drivers that Windows 7 supplies. I get great performance. One thing to not also if you try and update your drive, your going to have to plug it into a motherboard that supports AHCI, i recently updated mine. But if you have just ordered your drive there is probably no reason to. Secure Erase will also have to be done under AHCI controls.

Also further tips and info:
TRIM is Windows based and does not need special software. Windows 7 will automatically apply this setting. Obviously the solid state drive needs to support TRIM but that is all.

So essentially TRIM is windows based.

I added this because so many people seem to get confused with this.

Anyhow hopefully i have helped somehow! :)

Cheers.
Bunyan.

In this instance just use what Win 7 offers...

The Intel Rapid Storage software and drivers are for when you run your HDDs/SSDs in either AHCI or RAID mode and are not required when IDE mode is selected...
