hi there folks just about to get my new system built @ 11am tomorrow by a pc builder.

specs are
GA-965p DS3
E6300 + zalman cnps9500
2gb geil ultra low latency 800mhz
seagate 7200.10 200gb
asus 8800 GTX
OCZ gameXtream 600w

hopefully i have no problems so pray for me! tho i want to know which revision is it 1.0 or 2.0 i bought it off here (overclockers) this week tho it took 12 days to arrive not your problem but damm city link!

i would need to know incase i can pluck up the courage to flash my bios im a complete noob tho i can overlock and have done just never flashed a bios.

im scared ill muck it up although Qflash from the bios does seem pretty easy all i need is the f7 bios on a floppy (i think) going dos scares me :( and the @BIOS does too as its through internet so any advice on both question would be appreciated! :)

@BIOS isnt a problem - it talks direct to their servers for the update, though best not to be overclocking when you flash the bios, could always ask the guy building it to do it? if it was me building it i'd have updated the bios anyway.

/edit. Forgot to say for the board revision No. check back left hand corner, it should say there - well it does on my gigabyte ds4.

Anyways tis a good system spec so hope it's all ok and have fun caning some games over crimbo

well it seems i found an easier way lol going by the gigabyte website

GA-965P-DS3P (rev. 2.0)
Intel P965+ ICH8R chipset

Expansion Slots

1. 2 x PCI Express X16 slot(x16, x4)

i know ive only one so i have 1.0 like everyone else it seems as ive looked at the single blue pci e 16x.

about the bios i asked the builder to do it but he said no its too risky what a chump!

You've almost certainly got a Rev 1.0 - the Rev 2.0 units are not out in the yet as far as I know.

woot

update on the pc well everything is working now i have just to install windows the guy told me my motherboard was broke as it would not power on the fans, he didnt wait for them to come on and i had to tell him to re try it so the monster was rebuilt :D

needless to say christmas was looking very bleak 2 hrs ago :D

lol

nah it wasnt the option or anything its just the usual zalaman being pro didnt need to start up for ages.

on the topic tho what do i set my fan modes to now ive heard about legacy mode and that PWM option i dont think its spinning at full speed.

bios reports the cpu at 28c idle as well seems ok
