E6850 or E8500 is generally better? The E8500 seems cheaper generally but slightly better spec'd?

The E6850 is old tech now so definitely don't waste your cash on one, the E8500 has a higher clock speed, does more work clock for clock, has more cache, runs cooler/uses less juice & is cheaper so that would be the one to get.

Go for an E8400, and save yourself a few quid, hardly any difference between that and an E8500 when o/c'd.

1+ for E8400, I got it with mATX board but it still rock solid @ 4.2Ghz.
