Which Dyson?

Henry for bombproofness. Miele for 'quality'. As an ex student cleaner, they were the only hoovers that stood up to the inevitable abuse they received. Henry even more so than the little Mieles (powerslides, stair rides, rail slides and wallplants etc).

Dyson - Nevor! Waaaaay too unreliable/tacky/breakable.

To be fair i used the dyson on my bed, the **** it sucked out was mental! bagless hoovers f tw!!

Dysons are like cheap Prostitutes, They suck really good and strong to start with but they soon fill up and show there cheap plastic side :p

I have a DC07 and think it's much much better than the 3 henry's (maybe i am unlucky but they are far from bombproof) that i have owned in the past. It's brilliant at picking up pet hairs as well, much better than other hovers i have tried.

I don't know if this will help your buying decision, but I bought a DC05 three years ago. As I have a dog it is used every third day. Works as good today as when I first bought it. Easy to clean, no other maintenance required. 1st class item. Really recommend it. Hopefully it will last for years to come. Expensive to buy but works out cheaper than buying a succession of low price budget hoovers which fail to clear the dirt thoroughly. I do agree however that Dyson screwed over their British workforce. But until there is a better British built option this is where the smart money goes.

We had a similar discussion on this forum when I was choosing my vacuum cleaner. I started out with Dyson as my No1 choice. However, after some advice here, I decided to get the Miele Cat and Dog and since then have been very impressed.

The general concensus was that if you are on a budget, get a Henry; if you have more money, get the Miele.

I bought I Dyson (DC01 I think) maybe 8 years ago when they first came out, it was great and only broke recently when I dropped it down the stairs.

As a replacement I bought a 'Henry' instead of a new Dyson, mainly as they were cheaper and supposedly better.

However for us the Henry is a total pain in the ar$e to use. My GF can't carry it as she doesn't have the ull use of one hand, and can't carry the whole unit/pipes in the other hand at once. It doesn't do as good a job on carpets as the Dyson did, presumably as it just sucks and doesn't brush the carpet with a rotating brush. It takes a lot of effort to use on deep pile carpet, such that my GF can't really use it. The suction is so strong that you have to be careful not to pull up lino/carpets in the corners of rooms.

Having said that, it's great for doing the car. So I'm planning to get another Dyson (maybe a DC07) for use in the house and keep the Henry for the garage/car.
