Which eating app is better?

Whichever is cheaper at that moment in time for the place I want to order from or has the place I want to order from on it.

Although after seeing the difference between app price and in shop price at our local chippy (+£15 on a £20 order) I now try and avoid them and just go in store.

@BowdonUK so i have 1760 deliveries on just-eat & over 1000 on Deliveroo & around 20 on uber eats

Uber eats - if you they dont find your address in 15 minutes the driver can cancel your order & you cannot get a refund. I had many arguments with restaurants & uber eats & lost money, (driver told me this)

Deliveroo - is the best for restaurants you don't trust as you can get a refund much easier they normally honour cold or incorrect cooked food without hassle, only downside is some drivers use push bikes..
The best thing about deliveroo is you can contact the driver directly & every delivery has a number you give the driver to ensure its you. also if you have amazon prime can get deliveroo plus for free = free delivery on orders over 25

Just eat - is good but the moment you got an issue Just-ear is a nightmare to get hold of and very much the opposite to PayPal. Restaurant always win.

So in summary never use uber-eats, just eat only if its only avaliable their, deliveroo for anything else

Only sidenote is for large chains like MCD/KFC just-eat is often cheaper as they have contracts for deals

one thingto be aware of
95% of drivers are idiots
just eat support are mostly following a script and never listen. to the point i was on the phone for over a hour with them, got so bored of going around in circles i said i'm surely one of your vip customers, based on my order amount & said fine ill go elsewhere... 2 minutes later got my money back & got 20 gift card...
Deliveroo support seems very good

@cainer is probably the man to ask. I rarely use them nowadays as not only do they charge delivery, they also jack up the prices of every single product. A cheeky Nandos is now £40 for the two of us, get in the sea.

I don't see what value a middleman is adding when I know who I'm dealing with anyway.
There could be many reasons why you can't go out and collect, maybe you don't drive and by the time you've walked home the food is cold. Some takeaways don't have proper packaging, the food is cold as soon as you cross the road.

There may not be easy or free parking nearby and when you get home someone has parked in "your" spot.

All good reasons, but in my experience they have their own drivers so not relevant where I live. If they can't pack it properly, then you don't go back.

Having talked with the owner of my favourite Indian he was saying they're a pain to deal with. Taking margin off his earnings, forcing them to take discounts and offers and usually slow forwarding payments. He's no longer doing business with them and relying on the local custom built up over many years instead. I guess a new business starting up would get value though, no need to set up a website and deal with the payments side.

I'm old I guess. I like to see the face of the person cooking my food and say thank you. Its usually the same faces. Showing a little appreciation goes a long way.

that's a good point i missed earlier, if i like the restaurant i will go direct, so if you can go direct you often get better food & more freebies

JE cut is 35%
Deliveroo is around 30%
Uber eats - not sure

Ah! I misunderstood, thought you meant you go in and collect.

I'll do the same as you, call the place directly and ask if they deliver making a direct payment so they maximise their profit.

I've ordered hundreds of times on Uber Eats, in the UK and US, and I've never had this happen once. I've even had a refund for cold food.

try living in a place that's hard to find, our place is not on google/apple maps/waze or others (our post code goes to 2 roads over) And every delivery driver struggles with us. until just-eat & Deliveroo had a built in map that you could put a pin on the map for.
i EVEN had to make 2 signs pointing to our address in bold for them to find us :/

"are you lost looking for X go this way"

99% of drivers don't read instructions so its frustrating

every delivery company struggles & had to add custom instruc6tions for most ups/dpd type of deliveries too

to add even royal mail/postoffice dont find us & they created the address :o:cry:

Me too. I normally just phone up the order and pick it up.

The frustration of yeh it’ll be there in 40minutes then nothing for an hour. Not being able to find the house is another one that use to do my head.

It’s just easier, quicker and better to pick it up yourself for me.

It's all about Foodhub for me, they charge the same prices as the restaurants charge (although there is a 50p 'service fee')
but if you go over to this thread --> https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/the-official-takeaway-voucher-code-thread.18815768/page-65 you will often find codes we post there for either a % or £ discount,
they have been consistently giving out codes every Friday evening for the past few months which normally means you can get food delivered cheaper than it would cost you to collect it,
it varies per region as to how many of your local takeaways are on their platform as it's for places that have their own delivery drivers, so you won't find the big boys like McDonalds/KFC etc that have 'contracted drivers',
but it's worth putting your postcode in to see what's available in your area @ www.foodhub.co.uk

I've just done a price check for 1/2lb cheeseburger, large fries and a 9" special pizza from my favourite local kebab/pizza place....

Foodhub = £17.59 delivered
Just Eat = £21.99 delivered
Uber Eats = £21.63 delivered

Foodhub don't charge the restaurants commission on the food they sell, that's why the others charge more as they want to claw back some of the excessive fees JE/UE charge them

Use non of those, all the takeaways round here have their own website you can order from, always cheaper as well no platform fees.

I dont get ehy you would have a favorite app. Its a service to get to favorite food, whichever is cheapest is the best.

I hate Uber, they’re impossible to get refunds out of, whereas I’ve never had a problem with just eat. But lately just eat have started sending out multiple orders and it’s taking too long to get here.

I once tried to get a refund off uber for a missing burger and was told to provide photographic evidence

When I obviously couldn’t photo something that didn't exist, they just fobbed me off. I always get direct deliveries from Indian and Chinese places though.

Another point is that JE often give free delivery if you spend over £10
