Hi All,

If a thread pops up on here where the OP asks for suggestions for an economical family hatchback that will do for holidays, but isn't too big for the wife to park, the default answer will be a Focus.

It seems that over the last few years the korean offerings seem to be at least looking better and better. The warranty seems pretty good too. Are any of the i30 and Cee'd and whatever else is out there worth a look for this end of the market? How do they stack up to say a focus or an astra?

Perfectly well, both the ceed and i30 are pretty good cars and generally available at a good price too. Both have better steering than an ashtray too.

I had a Cee'd Pro 3 (something like that) as a hire car and was surprisingly impressed with it. I've no idea of second hand costs but I'd consider it if it met the desired buying criteria.

I've hired quite a few different cars of this size and my favourite was the latest shape Megane.
