I only use it to store movies, music etc but my main pc which has 500gb is now full. I've been looking at a 2TB Seagate (£110) and a WESTERN DIGITAL WDBAAU0020HBK 3.5" 2TB (£100).

Both are desk top hard drives.. i see portable around as well, but they seem a little more expensive although smaller box.

I picked the above 2 because i've seen lots of people here talking about the makes and with spend a hundred, i think i'd like to get something recommend by people who know a bit about the stuff :)

Thanks in advance for any comments

Both Drives have their pros and cons, some will swear by Western Digital, Some will say Seagate is better, however failure could happen on any brand of drive.

I'd say pick a drive size that suits your budget and condsider buying another brand to use as a backup.

I've lost two drives in the past 12 months, a 2tb and a 1tb (Both Samsungs)

I completely lost all the data on the 2tb and didn't have a backup, stupid I know

However I've just recently had the same thing happen, but everything is backed up on another drive so I feel so much better, plus it learnt be a massive lesson the first time round.

I have important files such as photos, family videos and other things backed up via HDD, USB Stick and also dropbox
