I'm looking to buy a fairly cheap processor, with the aim of clocking it to around 3Ghz, air.
Which one of the E2160, E2180, or E2200 is likely to be the best clocker? The money isn't important as it's only £10 difference.

Thanks

The E2160 or E2180.

The E2*** range often have an FSB wall at around 430mhz, so either of them will have a high enough multilpier to compensate.

I'm currently tweaking my E2180 overclock. 3.4Ghz prime stable now. Running pretty toasty though, but incredible bang for buck. I recommend it. :D

That's a pretty nice clock on such a low priced chip! What cooling are you running on it?
Are the supplied coolers enough to take it to 3Ghz? Case has decent air movement.

I got mine to 3.2ghz on the standard cooler. Difference between this and the OCZ Vendetta I bought is that the intel fan would speed up occasionally, making a bit of a whine. The OCZ never* span up beyond 1400 rpm in normal use.

* I've now fitted an aluminium blue led fan to the OCZ which spins at 1300 rpm.

Using the Freezer Pro in a Sonata III case. Using two Noctua 120mm fans for airflow though, temps without them would be too high.

I'm trying to work out if its worth running at 3Ghz near silently, or 3.4Ghz with a bit of noise. :D 3Ghz I can do on just one increment above stock voltage!

What temps do you get under load?

Running the the prime test which generates the most heat, it hits about 72 peak in a warm room. In games it's about 50-60 odd. Idles at about 38.

So pretty hot. But not dangerously so, and its stable under very heavy load. Runs a lot cooler at 3Ghz though, the temps seem to get exponentially higher as I pump that Vcore up.
