Hi.

I'm thinking of getting a File Planet subscription.

Is it worth it?

I'm thinking of the first one, good, fileplanet quarterly one, but would not make it around $60 a year? in which case would the "Better - File Planet annual" be the best.

Also what are these bonus magazine subscriptions? you get a free magazine subscription within the fileplanet subscription?

Thanks
Willz.

I like my sub and have had it for quite some time. Some people have trouble getting the high speed downloads though. I rarely ever get below 1.6MB/s from them unless it's an American server or for the 'latest big demo/patch/beta' that has everyone downloading it at once.

I wouldn't get an anuall sub until you know you'll use it. Go with a monthly one at first. If you find it's not worth it, you're not stuck with it.

The mags are only if you live in the US I believe.

Bit of a bummer aboout the mags but oh well.

Does the monthly one not work out more than the annual one tho?

And what are these "hit points"?

I guess were it says $5.32/month its about £6 here then?

I've been a Founder subscriber for a number of years.

I agree with Trip, most times I get a high transfer rate, apart from the latest releases. e.g. Crysis.

Mags are just for the US.

As for Hit Points, everytime you resubscribe or buy a service from them you get points, like a tesco clubcard, you can then exchange these for games. But unless you like 2/3 year old games they're not really worth having.

I've been happy with the service from them for a number of years.

ManCuBus, presume your another one of these people who hate File Planet because you have to pay for the service? If thats the case, don't give stupid comments like that. I like many others are happy to pay for this, at the end of the day bandwidth has to be paid for.

File Planet seems very apealing due to the beta's and all that for me.

So is it like £3.20 or is there no exchange rate for fileplanet subscriptions?

You might have to pay VAT/TAX on top of that amount, can't remember now as mine is taken automatically everytime. As the US does it's VAT/Sales Tax by state.

But if I remember it'll say exactly how much when you get to the checkout area.

Yes they do.

The Servers are the same ones that 3DGamers use, they are all same outfit and you can buy 1 membership to them all (cost bit more).

For about 1+ years now I have had crap speed as they lost a UK server and have only 1 now, I used to max my connection on the FREE signed up Members servers, now I can get 50-200KB/Sec normally and 500KB/Sec max on them or the Paid Members servers.

Basically crap, but if you want a beta sign up for 1 month, you can always get later for FREE on Gamershell at full speed.

Didnt know about the lost uk speeds,

i near enough always max out my download at 2+mb on uk servers on there, i get all my wow patches mods and such, and also betas with no issues.

Paid member, i pay quarterly though, easier.

It's worth it, but when you get shafted for new users being a long time subscriber it makes you wonder why you subscribe at all!

Big diff between your 2meg and the 10meg I was on last year and 20meg now, I actually get less than you from them now.

Gamershell I get 2500+KB/Sec.

I'm confused lol, dunno which one, the one with up to 2 free PC Games looks good, so they take $20 out of my account every 3 months? so around £10?
