Which finish?

I have a new steering wheel on its way to me. I am going to have the leather professionally recovered and have been offered a choice of two finishes - standard Nappa, or perforated for a minor extra charge.

It's this wheel:

And these are examples of the two finishes being offered:

Which would you chose and why?

Plain.

Prefer the look of it and won't 'grab' dirt in the holes.

/edit - is the stitching supposed to be in ///M colours?

I prefere the leather with the dimples. It gives the wheel character and I'm sure will feel better when gripping. If you look after the wheel, then the "dirt in dimple" issue shouldn't be a problem. The others just look plain. Although, these small finishes may be too small, even negligible compared to the finish of the entire car.

Why the wheel change?

It's a wheel exchange program - he has a stock of freshly done wheels, you buy one from him with a deposit, send your old wheel back when the new one arrives, and you get the deposit back. All the 'stock' wheels have the M coloured stitching. He will make up a non-M coloured one by special request if I ask. I've not decided how bothered I am about it yet.

Keep the stitching black.

What? No, keep the colored stitching!

Also, I prefer the feel of the perforations (like the newer BMW wheels I think?) so I'd go for that!

Whilst i like my perforated wheel, I'd say stick with the standard non-perforated one. I think it suits the car better.

I think I prefer the perforated, it gives a nice contrast to the standard part of the wheel.

original doesn't even look worn

standard nappa if you must i guess.

Thats because the original is a picture from an E39 with 5000 miles on the clock. It's a library photo. Did the fact the steering wheel was on the wrong side not give it away? :p
