Which finish?

Well I find this thread very interesting indeed, especially as I will be looking to replace my own rather worn steering wheel in the not too distant future. I look forward to Fox's thread where he details how you actually go about swapping the wheels with all the pictures :D ...that'll annoy some people I'm sure.

Anyway, the question at hand, I like both designs so it's a tough choice, I do like the feel of perforated leather wheels but I think the standard nappa would look better in your car, especially if you pull the aluminium out and add wood. Maybe a perforated leather finish with black stitching (if possible) would be the best bet.

I'd go with the perforated, have that on my car and the perforated sections have a bit more feel and give which helps if that makes sense :)

5 pages for a spec me wheel finish. O dear. Aaaaaaaand next week, spec me tax disc holder screws finish :p

Anyhow, prefer the perforated :D

I actually do have one of those metal tax-disc holders, someone bought it me when I had my first car, I never used it though ...looks a bit chavtastic tbh.

My Golf wheel has perforated leather in the middle section and it feels very good in your hands. Although I would be a little worried of moving away from a factory standard wheel without seeing one in the flesh fitted to the car as it might look out of place where as you have used/seen the standard one in your dads car so know what it will be like so OEM finish for me.

I am curious if he could recover my wheel as I got ripped off on ebay when buying a "new" MFSW when I retro fitted it and couldn't get a refund as paypal sided with the seller. It really needs a recover as it has a few little dents in the leather always ment to try some leather restorer on it but never got round to it.

Is the none perforated black rather than the grey in the first photo. If so get that, otherwise the perforated will make the interior look slightly less dull and they're nicer to use.

I like both but I think the perforated one wins it for me by a tiny margin. Both would look good but I think the perforated one would look just that bit better.

This is the reason for my comments.

In otherwords it just screams "i want an m5 but im too poor so i drive a 530i M-Sport and slate VW owners". ;)

I would normally say Nappa plain as the soft feel would be nice against ones hands but you strike me as the driving gloves type so perhaps the perferations would aid grip?

I thihink the toothpaste stitching looks bad however.
