Four sticks will be more stressfull on the northbridge, tho that's usually easily sorted by upping the northbridge/MCH voltage by ~0.1v.

two twos would probably be best no? Then you have 2 slots spare for future use.

I couldnt get my 4 x 1G crucial ballicks ram to work on either of my mobos :-(

No amount of mucking with voltages / timings could get them to work at stock speeds.

I ended up buying 2 x 2G gskill sticks which were amazing.
