I got a friend that wants me to transfer some files from my Windows 8.1 to his 2TB drive to then work on mac.

Most the files are around 25GB, is exFAT the best format to use for this? Or is there something else to consider? It's a new drive so I can format it to which ever is best.

I normally use NTFS for HDD's and usb sticks. I have never used exfat but I don't think there is a file limit using that format

don't use FAT32 as this has a file size limit of 4GB.

NTFS, you will need to do a few tweaks to get OSX playing with NTFS but it takes about 5 minutes and you only have to do it once.

Thanks, looking at NTFS again it will read only on the mac with no tweaking. I don't think he will need to write to this drive and if he does he can install paragon.
