Which Gaming Headset?

Im currently in the market for a gaming headset as i will most probably need one for the MMO's i play but im finding it difficult in choosing one, their are quite a lot of brands and for the price bracket im willing to spend they all seem to be a bit flimsy (or what i have been told).

The only features i want the headset to have is for it to be usb rather than 2 seperate input/output jacks and for it to be comfortable, well atleast for long gaming sessions i dont want to get ear-ache or find the headset to irritate due to bad build quality.

Budget is £20 but i could go a few quid over if needs be.

Cheers for any suggestions.

Google for "Elara clip-on microphone" and get that, good quality and I have mine behind my monitor, picks me up fine.

The Goldrings will blow away any other headsets labeled as "Gamer" headsets, which will merely be worse but overpriced and carrying a brand name and marketed as "Extreme Gamer!11!"

Goldrings will paste the "Fatal1ty" headset, they got 5 stars in WHAT-HIFI magazine.

Edit: Stay away from Speedlink Medusa, they are terrible manufacturers.

Well i have a pair of Sennheiser HD202's which are one of the best cheap headphones i have ever had and now afterseeing that elara mic i may as well just order that and save some cash.

Obscenely good sound quality, unfortunately obscenely bad sound leakage. You'll probably be wanting closed headphones for gaming to keep all the sound in and everything else out. I'm having to send back my DR150s for that exact same reason :(

Go for it if you're not going to be gaming around anybody else though and I guarantee you won't regret it - you might want to go for the DR100s though, they have a nicer ear padding.
 
I just recently bought the Fatal1ty. Great headset, can't complain, nice and comfortable and the sound is a decent quality.
 
Sennheiser HD215's here, £59.99 from a Certain computer planet. Love the phones to bits tbh. Sound excellent with very good sound staging. Used to use the Zalman 6.1 which I still have but unfortunatly the sound quality is lacking compared to the 215's.
 
I'm currently on a set of *cough* Tesco Value *cough* :D

Had them over 2 months now with no problems (not USB) best £5 I spent...Last year I spent £20 on a set of logitecs for them to break after 2 months :mad: Never gone back to logitec since.
 
Pretty pleased with the Steelsound 5h v2 not amazing quality of sound but its very comfortable and light for long sessions.
Might be above your budget though.
 
I've been perfectly happy with the creative fatalonety, it was very cheap (can't say where from obv) and good enough for my purposes. Not a very balanced sound but I just cleaned that up a bit with the equaliser. There are far, far better out there in terms of sound quality but for me, they're more than good enough. More importantly they're all-night comfy. They won't stun you or anything, but they're still a very good basic headset.

these are very light on the ears (dont hurt after 8 hours of wearing them at a lan) which was exactly what i wanted.

Yeah I've got the same. Was gonna splash the extra £8 and get the 161's but read the difference in sound quality between the 2 was unrecognisable. :)

for £20 you should really be looking at the creative - its not amazing but it is great for the price

can get uncomfortable for long periods of time however imo
 
I've used Steelseries 3H/5H/etc...Medusas of various ilks and several other brands (the joys of being in charge of all our sponsorship)

I've not actually tried Sannheisers but people I've spoken to have rated them as the best quality sound out of all the brands. Personally all the ones I've tried have been great, and I've played a lot of FPS games :)
