Which gaming mouse?

Hi, my Logitech MX510 is starting to die (teflon pads at the bottom are coming off etc) and I need a new mouse.
Now I bought a Razer Deathadder and although it tracks amazingly and better than the MX510 by a long way I can't get used to the shape.
So I think it's best me getting a Logitech with the same shape.

Now which mouse should I get out of these, what are the differences between them?

MX518
G5
G7

Thanks for the help

I too started with the 510 and mistakenly went to the razor hoping for l33t aim and movement, unfortuantly, although it was "OK" for a few months the shape never really appealed to me and it started to get a bit buggy after a few driver updates and finally annoyed me so much one night playing UT I took it outside and hit it with a BIG hammer....felt much better after that...before thinking :s I now have no mouse :p

so I thought what next?, got a G5 from here and its been awsome.....right shape, weight (also additional weights if you need to adjust are included) and doesnt cost over £50

so the G5 gets my vote

What are the differences between them? from my reading...

MX518 exactly the same as MX510 but better tracking.

G5 has sensitivity change on the go and weight thing

G7 is same as G5 but wireless

All the same shape, surely I should go for the G7? DOes it track just as well as the rest?

I went from the 510 to te 518 and it's pretty much just the same apart from improved tracking, still the best mouse I've ever used though.

I've got an MX510 and it's the best I've ever used. I tried my mates' Razers and they didn't feel comfortable at all.

So you guys recommend a MX518 over a G5?

EDIT:
I just noticed the MX518 also has 2 thumb buttons and looks nicer then the G5 IMO.

I think I might get me one of those!

I have owned a 518 (which broke), G5, and copperhead.

My favorite was the 518 by miles, i've just managed to get it replaced by logitech as its still under warranty, even after using the others for around a year and having it sat in my drawer for even longer.

I don't like the G5 because it's a bit bulky, and the left/right clicking scroll-wheel totally puts me off and was impossible to use properly for my gaming controls.

The razer is quite nice, has a bit of a glitch now and again but very rarely.

I'm going to go back to the 518 because it's perfect for comfort, isn't that much less accurate, and has all the thumb buttons i need!

My ratings based on price, comfort + performance:
518 : 9/10
copperhead: 8/10
G5: 5/10 - would have gotten 10 with 2 thumb buttons, a non side-side scroll wheel and the same size as the 518.

as chris above^^^ had 518 in drawer and kept going back in there to use it
.its the best mouse for me ....period. my previous mice are G7,Deathadder,mx610,mx1000....most of Logitech range!(ive a thing for keyboards+mice :D)
hope this heps m8

I would definitely go for the mx518 purely because you can trust it to track perfectly whatever you do. If you were set on a laser mouse I would wait for the g9, sidewinder or lachesis as they may not suffer from the problem that plagues current models (not coping with really quick movements).

One thing I do find funny though is that we are made to think we can't game properly without all these new fangled mice, yet I can pick up my old Logitech Wingman gaming mouse and aim every bit as well. It's not even optical but that doesn't seem to hurt it :) The only reason I don't use it permanently is the lack of thumb button(s) and no scrollwheel.

Yeah mostly it's a gimmick, only game using proper low res is CS gamers and well those players suffer when in close combat as I run rings around them.

All you need to find is a mouse with the perfect shape to you thast you don't even think about the mouse, and make sure it tracks also then your sorted for life, my old MS ball mouse had the perfect shape for me but it doesn't come as an optical and even if it did it would be a ultra low model and track like turd.

I had a 510 ages ago and I still think it's the best mouse I've ever owned. The G5 I had was ok but never felt as good as *** 510, the 518 is an improvement over the 510. In fact, I might see if I can find one as my next mouse.

I've used many mice by the way, had a Razor 2000 at one point - that thing was dangerous. 518 all the way!

EDIT: G9 looks good but expensive. Good reviews though.
