Which Gaming Mouse?

I use a grip that is mixed between the claw and palm grips, looks mostly like palm, but plays more like claw, so for the most part it's a claw grip.

I used to have the Razer Copperhead, had no problems with it, sold it to my brother, I recently built myself a new computer so I just bought the Roccat Kova, which looks good, feels ok, you cannot use any of the buttons for macros, I really only bought the mouse because it had big buttons, and it said 'fully customizable' yet you cannot customize it other than LED colour and pulse...

So I purchased the G9x after using a friends G9, only to find that the G9x won't match my black desk and computer set, as it feels like being silver/grey on the wide grip, so after returning 2 G9x's and phoning logitech to find out you cannot get a black one anymore, they just advertise it in black, everywhere.. I considered the Razer Imperator, only to see people complaining about it's laser.

Only options I can think of at this time are G9 or G9x with a custom grip, which probably isn't all that good and not many options for it.

Any suggestions?

Looks pretty good, no side scroll, super cheap, I put an order in, I just hope the DPi is high enough for high res gaming, luckily games + windows have their own sensitivity on top so I shouldn't find a problem.

Thanks

I'd take 450/800dpi etc over 3600/5700 any day of the week for proper gaming.

Logi 518 has always been a popular choice for the palm aimers but can be held in a claw way if you have big hands i guess.

MX518 comes recommended from me as well. I honestly don't see how using a more sensitive mouse would actually make any more difference. I've tried moving mine the smallest amount I could before and the mouse pointer still moved. It's almost like saying one camera is better than the other purely because it is 100 Mega pixels as apposed to 5.

If you want maximum mouse pointer movement from minimal hand/arm movement, learn to use your hand/arm more. Most people find they are much more accurate at lower sensitivities while still moving just as quickly as they used to.

I really just don't have that much room to move the mouse at the moment, I move quickly and I think any DPi between about 1200 and 2500 will be ok, never needed to lower the copperhead from 2000dpi, but this roccat kova I got here... who knows what DPi it's on..

I've never been convinced with the higher dpi gaming mice. I've found 1600\2000 is the most i've neeed to use on my Kone.

The most useful feature i find on gaming mice is the ability to change the dpi on the fly.

Other than that which mouse you prefer is down entirely to the fit.

Can't fault Razer's gaming mice. I use a Copperhead 3G, its been replaced byt the Deathadder now which im told by my good colleagues is an excellent bit of kit!

I put an order in for the MX518, £25 delivered, but I will be interested in other mice when and if the G9x actually comes in black or if the Cyborg R.A.T. 9 or 7 gets some good reviews, until then I'll likely stick to this cheaper and problemless logitech

I have the CM Sentinel. I used to use the deathadder but fancied a change. This mouse is really good and fully customisable. It also feels really natural in your hand rather.

Excellent choice there with the mouse, that whole logitech family is awesome. They've been pretty much making the same mouse for years now, yes it's that good ! :p

+1 for the mx518,i have one,and its an excellent mouse for the price. From reading threads on here, their customer service seems to great aswell.Which is nice to know, should you have any problems.

Although this mouse isn't bad, I don't think it is as good as the amount of people singing praises..

Good things mainly are the looks, the grip, shape, size, buttons on the left, good accuracy optics and that the mouse doesn't move to a side when you click to shoot.

Down sides are the 8ms response time over 1ms response time is quite noticeable to me, 1800DPi isn't that high for full HD gaming, there is nowhere to put my pinky, so it's on the mousemat, the scroll wheel is a little small and soft to click, but not a big deal.

At this point I am thinking the old copperhead I had was slightly better than this except for reachability of the left buttons and the DPi buttons are easier on the Logitech too, although it looks like I will be keeping it highest DPi and even up the windows sensitivity a little unless I just get used to it.

Still prefer it over the Roccat, but will be keeping my eyes open for the other mice like those insane looking Cyborg R.A.T.s.

I think customer service isn't that amazing, maybe the warranties are.. I called them to ask about the G9x before and the guy hardly knew what I was talking about, and spoke the worst English I ever heard, he had to repeat it over and over for me to understand half of what he was saying. In the end he couldn't help me.

I wasnt over the moon with the build quality of the copperhead, the lmb button went in under 12 months, went back to the 518 and still over the moon with it.
I use a claw like grip and ok I have massive hands but able to game ok on the 518.

DPI in mice for those who dont know is about the relative change in position, i.e. small movement in mouse results in massive movement in cursor or vice versa. Some people prefer various settings in different scenarios. You snipe and want more control when zoomed, you love the tank but want the turret to move quicker.

Both the 518 and copperhead are programmable and good mice if you arent as rough as me and break the flimsy copperhead. From my POV the DPI on the 518 is more than sufficient. I may be a minority though.

Seems you aren't a minority according to the other replies..

A higher DPi will move across more pixels on the screen compared to lower, so although both are as accurate, it is hard to have precise aims with a high DPi because it moves quite a lot, I play shooter games and CSS online a lot with full HD, n I don't use a sniper very much, I notice in games when you zoom in using a sniper or virtually any weapon on Crysis then it lowers your sensitivity anyway.

The Copperhead I had my brother still uses, must be about 3-4 years old now, only thing I disliked about the build is that you could lift the buttons up.

I'm not complaining about this mouse, I just did a quick gungame to test and won, but I do need to get used to it.

I use my ideazon reaper mouse at 400 dpi on a huge steelseries cloth mouse pad and I still need to turn the sensitivity down in some games. :D

I'm gonna be getting a cyborg RAT if they ever release though. I don't even care that they are ridiculously expensive, I just think they look so cool.
