I'm looking at either :-

256Mb Connect 3D X1800XT
512Mb HIS X1800XT
256Mb BFG 7900GT OC

Now I don't care if its ATi or nVidia, I just want the best for my money. The above cards are all between £160 and £200, and I want to be pairing it with a NF4 Expert mobo. It needs to be able to run current games (all of them can mind) and most future games prior to DX10.

SLi not sure about yet.

All advice welcome

Cheers chaps...

Yeah, I've been reading about the 7900 failier rate, but as the BFG has a lifetime warrenty its not that much of a problem. I'm really after performance comparasons between the cards.

No issues here with my asus 7900 GTX,

I would get the BFG 7900 GT as you have a SLI mobo.
When these comes down in price again you can then go SLI.

Making a nice smooth transition over to DX 10.

They clock superbly and more people have less trouble with the GT's than people make out.

With a lifetime warranty too who cares.7900 GT all the way.Who wants to be stuck in the quagmire of a single X1800 whn you have a SLI mobo. ;)

wit the amount of cash u gonna spend sendin the 7900 back for rma u may as well spend the cash now and get a x1900xt

Indeed, I can get a X1900XT for just under £260, so that may well be another option, but a tad more than I wanted to pay ;)

I wasn't sure about the spacing of the PCI-e slots on the Expert, I had hoped they addressed it as it is bloody tight around there on my nF4 SLI-DR mobo.

And I have since read lots of "SLI problem" threads on DFI-Street, X1900XTX for the Win !! :D

The 256Mb Connect 3D X1800XT really is a great bang per buck card. Great overclocker generally & also faster at stock than the 7900GT.

The other card to consider really would have to be this.....
