Hello everyone!

I here, have a choice between two GPU's. There are some noticeable differences, and because I don't know much about modern GPU's, I ask the mighty fine people of OCUK to help me choose between these two.

Now, one is better, but has less memory bitrate & cores & RAM, the other one is poorer in general specs but has more bitrate, cores and RAM

Ill link you both the exact products so you can help me out.

2GB Zotac GTX 660 Ti AMP Edition - http://prntscr.com/nwczc

3GB Asus Radeon HD 7950 DirectCU II TOP - http://prntscr.com/nwcwx

Thank you for reading!

1) Remove competitor links. It's against the rules and you are being very cheeky
2) Buy from OcUK, customer service is the best in the business, imho.

3) Right now, 7950 can't be beat if you are willing to overclock. And this is coming from an nVidia user.

I have just bought the Asus HD7950 3GB TOP version, it was either that or an MSI GTX660Ti but a heap of people here were saying to get the ATI card as it is the fastest and best bang for your buck. Plus its a great overclocker to top it off.

Don't get an Asus directCU 7950, they're not very good.

Get either a Gigabyte Windforce or HIS IceQ version.

660Tis aren't worth buying.

It's not really cheeky, lots of people think it's about time OcUK got over the competitor rule because it's a bit insulting to people anyway. It's based on the assumption of blind purchasing.

I buy from OcUK quite a bit, especially in the last month but that's only because they were the best prices at the time, if they don't offer the best prices I'll buy from wherever does.

If you ever go in to the shop itself, they are happy to bring up competitor websites to see, for example, if they have stock of something that OcUK don't have (just once instance).

You should also refrain from saying things like "Buy from OcUK, customer service is best in the buisiness".

Their CS is very good, definitely but your saying it is inferring that others have poor CS. I've seen others do this a number of times too and it's getting a bit silly now. OcUK have very good customer service but so do plenty other places, it's not a good thing to encourage blind purchasing.

Someone please help?

I like my GTX 660 Ti, I don't think you will be disappointed if you choose one.

The extra perfromance of the HD 7950 is based on overclocking it, if you do so, you will have a very powerful card for the same money.

Stop telling everyone to get a GTX660Ti. They aren't worth their cost, less performance for more money and all that. Everyone knows you're happy with it, most sensible people would be disappointed in buying a 660Ti over a 7950 though.

Legendary Fox, the 7950 is the card to get, it's better than the GTX660Ti.

The XFX 7950 would be a better choice over the Asus 7950.

I'm having a little trouble with this. Is it just me? :)

Sorry, would offer advice and stuff, but I've witnessed too many threads on this exact subject already :)

I just skipped over it because you can't really meaningfully compare those two cards in that way. The speed each GPU runs at, and the amount of cores they both have are irrelevant relative to eachother because they use different architectures anyway.

Is this not a forum?

I can suggest whatever I like!

If you really hate my posts Spoffle, put me on ignore. ;)

I certainly would be hesitant to recommended a HD 7950, due to the failure rate I have observed on these forums alone.

The GTX 670 is a better card, but it is outside many peoples spending limit.

You are a silly man.

Asus 7950 costs £40 more than the XFX, has higher coreclock and comes factory overclocked, let alone it has dual fans. Hence why it wasn't in the original question!

Less performance for more money. really the 660Ti looks cheaper to me :D

If the OP is reluctant to overclock, he would be better off with the (cheaper actually) 660ti.

Overclocking on the 7950s is a case of moving a slider though. It's not hard or risky. Even on stock volts you're going to well exceed the power a 660Ti offers. On the 12.11 drivers the cards are about even at stock clocks whereas before the 660Ti was a touch faster in a few games and even in the rest.

Though with the games the 7950 comes from, it still works out cheaper than a 660Ti. The games sell for ~£40-45 on the MM and possibly more elsewhere.

The asus comes factory overclocked.

Alright guys, I just wanted an answer to a more than quite simple question.

Card vs Card
Lower Core Clock
More Cores
1+ GB more of VRAM
Higher Bitrate
Lower Memory Clock
660ti AMP Edition also has a boost clock.

Please help me choose one of these.

Silly? What? This is how you ask for help?

The Asus cards aren't very good. They don't allow over volting, their coolers aren't very good, they take up 3 slots and have a large shroud around it to make it look like it's got a massive cooler when it hasn't.

So tell me, how is paying £40 more for that not silly, yet I'm somehow silly?
