Which GPU? -Difficult One-

Silly? What? This is how you ask for help?

The Asus cards aren't very good. They don't allow over volting, their coolers aren't very good, they take up 3 slots and have a large shroud around it to make it look like it's got a massive cooler when it hasn't.

So tell me, how is paying £40 more for that not silly, yet I'm somehow silly?

The non TOP version didn't allow overvolting, the one he wants is the TOP version :D
The cooler is also a damn sight better than any XFX one.

@OP get the 7950, you wont be disappointing and you'll get a damn sight more for you money over the quite frankly overpriced 660Ti.

The OP doesn't have a choice of that GTX660Ti, or at least has suggested as much.

Well to suggest cards from other places or even mention their prices is against the forum rules.

you may not like the rules but if you wish to use these completely free forums then you have to abide by them.

this is directed at the opening poster as well.

Can anyone tell me which card I should get, and a descriptive meaning as to why I should get it?

the AMD 7950 is the best performance per pound available at the moment, especially if you are prepared to overclock, if your not willing to overclock then the 660TI is a nice card but not as good at the higher resolutions with lots of eye candy. If your not overclocking then go for the card with the highest stock clock that you can get. (the clock speed between AMD and Nvidia isn't comparable even though they are actually similar due to different architectures)

You should try and read what's already been posted...
Overclocking on the 7950s is a case of moving a slider though. It's not hard or risky. Even on stock volts you're going to well exceed the power a 660Ti offers. On the 12.11 drivers the cards are about even at stock clocks whereas before the 660Ti was a touch faster in a few games and even in the rest.

Though with the games the 7950 comes from, it still works out cheaper than a 660Ti. The games sell for ~£40-45 on the MM and possibly more elsewhere.

Legendary Fox, the 7950 is the card to get, it's better than the GTX660Ti.
3) Right now, 7950 can't be beat if you are willing to overclock. And this is coming from an nVidia user.

I asked for descriptive responses.

However, I think I shall be choosing the ASUS.

(What GPU Overclocking tools do y'all use? CCC? MSI Afterburner?)

What kind of essay were you looking for? Because you can't compare the cards based on clockspeed, cores and all that other mumble jumble you posted vvv

The asus comes factory overclocked.

Alright guys, I just wanted an answer to a more than quite simple question.

Card vs Card
Lower Core Clock
More Cores
1+ GB more of VRAM
Higher Bitrate
Lower Memory Clock
660ti AMP Edition also has a boost clock.

Please help me choose one of these.

Also Spoffle already answered that
I just skipped over it because you can't really meaningfully compare those two cards in that way. The speed each GPU runs at, and the amount of cores they both have are irrelevant relative to eachother because they use different architectures anyway.

For overclocking, MSI Afterburner. Read this guide: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18431335

Hi, imao, here we go not another can of worms--> Which GPU Shall I Get, AMD V's Nvidia. Come on u fanboys state your case and get your red or green handbags out let battle commence.

OP get a HD 7950

Also you could have made this thread a little more easy by stating what your specs are especially your monitor resolution and what you intend to use your system for.

Having said that a HD 7950 will cover nearly all options.

That's completely irrelevant. It's not against the rules for him to mention that he's not getting them from OcUK though, and to say that one is more expensive than the other.

So my point about him paying more for less performance still stands.

It seems like you're demanding responses. You've been told by a number of people already now, but you don't seem to want to listen.

You CAN NOT compare clock frequencies and core counts between AMD and nVidia GPUs because it's meaningless.

It's like trying to compare currencies without an exchange rate.

XFX are shocking when it comes to returning products. Zotac have a 5 year warranty and a UK phone number. Go for the Zotac.

Your quite right he is perfectly allowed to buy from elseware, but he is not allowed to list prices from anywhere else and looking at the prices here your point about the 660Ti being more expensive simply isn't true. We all agree, well most of us do, that the 7950 is the more powerful card but it is not cheaper.
