So I’ve been upgrading my system and it’s tome to finally update my old 7870 Xt. I’m thinking of spending around £4-500 but it’s a difficult choice now!

VEGA 64?
GTX 1080?
GTX 1070 ti? (With a bit of change!)
RTX 2070?
Second hand GTX 1080 ti?

What would people do? Is rtx worth getting involved in? If not is vega a good choice or should we stick to the old favourites? Is it worth looking for a second hand 1080 ti or stick to new?

Just looking for opinions currently.

I’m using an i5 7600k oc to 5 ghz and will be getting a 1440p 144hz monitor next month fingers crossed!

If you are buying a FreeSync monitor then Vega 64 is probably the best option. Or get a Vega 56 (perfectly capable of 1440p 144Hz) and wait for AMD's next gen GPUs. If you're going G-Sync then I'd personally get an RTX 2070 assuming you can get it for the same price as an equivalent GTX 1080 (they perform the same when not using DXR or DLSS).
