Hi,
Looking at upgrading my r7770, this is the 1st upgrade I've ever done to the pc I bought from my brother.
Have around £300 to spend , so looking at a r390. I understand the next gen is due within the next couple of months. Use the pc mainly for Photography editing (Lightroom / Photoshop) would also like to do a bit of game (Dayz / No Man's Sky).

Not sure if the build will take a r390 or other upgrades are required?
Motherboard = Gigabyte ga-990xa0ud3
Psu =550
Cpu = AMD fx-8120

Thanks

May aswell go for this or a r9 390.

This deal is very tempting, I like the r390 because of the 8gb of ram that can be utilized within Adobe Lightroom. Just to confirm both of these cards will run on my current psu?

they state a lot higher psu for the r9 390, gtx 970 only states 500w and get nice freebies :)

390 will work on a 550W. My crossfire 290X overclocked take 700W so a single card is not going to take a lot. In single card mode min takes about 480W max.

I would look into Adobe Lightroom to which card is better suited, I would think 8gb vram would help a lot in that, Gaming wise I have a gtx 780 comparable to the 970 in older titles and dayz runs well on it as would on a 390 I am sure.

390 even works with a good 450w power supply

the 390 is the best choice right now and if you get a good overclocker you can be even more happy if you can push 1150mhz or higher with maybe some voltage

^^Yeah, 390 would be my choice as well. The longevity provided by the continued support the last few generations of AMD cards have gotten has really been outstanding.

Well looks like the PSU is not upto the job. No fans on bootup and no output via HDMI. Going to order a EVGA 850 Watt GQ Gold Hybrid Modular ATX.

I knew there was a reason why i have never upgraded any PC I've owned :)
