Which GPU for around £300

Well looks like the PSU is not upto the job. No fans on bootup and no output via HDMI. Going to order a EVGA 850 Watt GQ Gold Hybrid Modular ATX.

I knew there was a reason why i have never upgraded any PC I've owned :)

Always make sure to have a nice Psu. It's money well spent. A crap Psu can take out your whole system if it does not have the right protection in place. It's also good piece of mind to know the thing powering your PC is not going to fail. I remember having a Hiper Type R back in the day when I never knew better. Then I found out they were failing and taking systems with them. Never had the money to replace it so was always in the back of my head.

would agree with the above, even a nasty PSU will usually boot a gpu as the gpu will pull very little loading and in windows. Its when you load the card it will all fall over. You may well need to update the bios for the card to work i have come across this a number of times on older boards.

^^Yeah, 390 would be my choice as well. The longevity provided by the continued support the last few generations of AMD cards have gotten has really been outstanding.

as much as i agree with this looking at how things are right now, this has got to change once they get new cards that are totally different from what they have now?
