Ive got my new rig a week ago and im still using my old ATI 256MB x800 GTO2 Limited Edition with arctic cooling silencer 5 running at XT PE speeds. I think its time for replacing it!

I want to buy a new gpu but there's just too many choices out there. I have no idea which one to get. I need help in deciding which one to get as I play mainly FPS and online games. I have a budget of around £200 (can be stretched to £230). I dont mind if it's Nvidia or ATI.

Can anyone suggest me which one and also WHY i should get that? :)

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Either really, you could get the MSI 7900 GTO 512mb SILENT thats in the 'This Week Only' which is basically a full 7900 GTX, its quiet, uses less power than the x1900's (which are also louder), but it can't do AA+HDR like the x1900's, but either way both are cracking cards, so if you want quiet, cool, less power then go for the 7900 GTO, if your not bothered about that, and want AA+HDR as well then get the x1900. :)

how about the overclocking potential of the 2 cards you mentioned?

So basically the MSI GeForce 7900 GTO and the ATI Radeon X1900 XT cards are the best cards to get for my budget?

The 7900gto is cheaper rand at a large-ish res (1680 by 1050 e.g.) the x1900xt will not comfortably do hdr and aa at the same time anyway. I should know, my frames with my x1900xtx gets slashed in call of juarez when using both hdr and aa like 8ish frames sometimes.

i guess ill be getting the x1900 xt instead.. will buy an arctic cooling for it. Lastly, does anyone know about the performance of x1950 cards? The GeCube ATI Radeon X1950 Pro FZ SuperCooled TURBO SILENT TEC/Heatpipe 512MB GDDR3 VIVO and PowerColor ATI Radeon X1950 Pro Extreme SILENT Heatpipe 512MB looks really attractive :) should i also consider these 2 cards?

thanks for all the help. i have one last question though.. which x1900xt should i get? Connect3D or HIS or SAPPHIRE? they have different prices so i want to know which one of the 3 i should get

All of the cards are made by ATi themselves and use the same reference boards. Choose the brand which suits you the most, they'll all be the same thing, just different packages. Connect3D cards tend to be cheaper and don't include games. HIS cards have that excellent cooler (it really does perform much better than the standard cooler whilst being quieter) and Sapphire cards often include game bundles, not too sure on this though.
