Which graphics card?

I have the following setup:


AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail
Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 AMD 970 (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard
Antec High Current Gamer 520W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
Corsair 200R
Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B Vengeance 8GB
Cooler Master Hyper 412S CPU Cooler
120GB SSD

And trying to decide between the following graphics cards:

Is it just as good just a bit cheaper or is it a little bit worse but better value?

The 280X is a 7970 ghz with a faster out the box memory clock (correct me if im wrong anyone)..

The MSI on offer is a 7970 ghz..

So the card is a little bit behind the 280X but nothing a tiny overclock won't fix. So it is much better value, IMO.

7970 is a steal at that price. Get that for sure.

do you still get the gold ticket it doesnt say at the top but does in the description, id love one for that price can always pick up a 280x down the line

The GPU is the same, its just the clock speeds that differ.

MSI 7970:

Core Speed - 1000 mhz (1050mhz)
Memory Speed - 5500 mhz (1375)

280X toxic

Core Speed - 1100 mhz (1150 mhz)
Memory Speed - 6400 mhz (1600).

I think you'd easily be able to overclock your 7970 to 1100/1200 and 6000/6500..

Id recommend second one for value and it overclocks well. But the first one if you have a bit more of a budget and you want to push for a decent overclock. But be quick as there nearly all gone. But other than them id say the Sapphire 280X Toxic would be the best card out of the ones you linked.
