Which GTX 970 version to get?

If they are planning to rebagde everything up to the Fury cards which are going to be priced around the same as 980 ti's therefore out of 970 price range, one doesn't need a crystal ball to see how things are shaping up on the graphics card market.

They haven't been released yet, everything so far is rumour after rumour.

Your ignorant view points throughout this thread are disappointing to see, you can't call AMDs technology ****, when Nvidia lied to their customers over the 970.

Without wanting to jump into the topic - with all the praise towards MSI, Asus and Gigabyte, what's the EVGA SSC 970 like? I was leaning towards that with the thought I could step-up to a 980 (or 980ti) in a couple months if I felt like it, once stock (and possibly prices) have settled down a little.

Hello,

there are different SSC models available, when going for this card please review the P/N of it. If it starts with 29xx it is our Ref Design we had available for launch. If it starts with 39xx it is the latest improved PCB+cooling with higher power input and better cooling.

The msi has 100mm fans that are supposed be quite quiet

Supposed to be? Check my post with the Youtube video link somewhere above and you'll find it's the quietest 970 available to buy. Also, a real shame about the ghastly green colour on the 100 million edition. Goes terribly with most builds. I'd just want it for the backplate alone, anybody know if it's sold separately? Or if we could at least get that green changed to the nice red that suits my motherboard and case.

Gonna watch that video will be very interesting. I wish more reviews covered noise. Id love the 970 100me, but i already got a different one. I like green but i dont colour match my builds, i have a blue black mobo and noctua poo fans everywhere

I have the Galax and it's as noisy as it sounds in that vid, wish i had the msi 100me. Even under load the twin frozr is quiet

But the Strix is way off, I don't know what they did to that card but it's nowhere near as loud as on that video. Mine's maybe just slightly louder than the MSI. Weird.

I watched the 980 version of the video (in the related videos at the side) and you're right, the Strix is normally pretty quiet. Still not as quiet as the MSI though. And one can really hear how loud the Gigabyte is, any chance of me buying a Windforce card have now gone to zero. The Palit is pretty quiet too. Anybody know how good it is on other fronts (like temps, overclocking, backplate, etc)?

Go for the Asus Strix, mate. Its fans don't spin up to 65C and is very quiet thereafter. It overclocks like a beast and it has excellent components. It's also priced very competitively against other 970's.

As far as waiting for AMD don't bother. They will not release anything competitive in this price range. Just their re-badged 290's which are piles of dung. And you can throw as much glitter on **** as you want to but it's still going to be **** at the end of the day.

Yea I went for the Strix, no complaints great card, goes well with my i5 4690k

yeah the g1 gets a lot of recommendations, obviously because it is a top 970 in terms of performance and temps. But if u have a quiet rig, its the last thing youll want

I can recommend this one:

https://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/GTX970DC2OC4GD5BLACK/

- GTX 980 pcb with 10-phase vrm, vram chips by Samsung

- Mine is sitting pretty at 1520/8000 on stock voltage

- With the clocks above, the fans spin up to max. 39% (roughly 1000rpm) on full load and the core temperature never climbs past 69'C (22'C ambient). The card is completely inaudible in all situations.

looks nice
