Which GTX Card to go for ?....another thread..

The OEM cards, who would deal with the returns on them, would it be ocuk? If so this surely would be a plus ? Faster RMA turn around?
I always deal with RMAs through OcUK, the staff on the OcUK phones always say they'll be happy to do it and that it's often the fastest way to get an RMA through.

I've wished for ages that OEM graphics cards were more common the way you can get bare HDDs and CPUs in little boxes with no extras, pretty rare though and this is the first time I've ever ordered a properly OEM graphics card. Closest I've ever come before is the "Lite" retail boxes Sapphire used to do.

Maybe Gibbo can give take our feedback on OEM products and try to get OcUK stocking more stuff in OEM. :)

Just checked OcUK and the next cheapest GTX is the;

Leadtek GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

575MHz Core, 768MB 1800MHz GDDR3 Memory, 128 Stream Processors, SLi Ready, 2yr Warranty

@ £230 INC VAT

Now im not sure about you or anyone else but this does not seem worth it compared to the OEM. Another £30 quid (a good percentage of the original price at least) for another year of warranty most of us will not need and a box full of tat that you'll most likely throw out. It's a shame you missed the OEM GTX in TWO. They were going for £290 which made it even more of a deal. Plus I do like the sticker on the OEM GTX compared to some of the other designs, maybe thats a tad odd but I like how my hardware looks aswell as performs ;):D. Shame mine didn't have a black PCB mind

Oh yes I understand that, I didn't make myself clear sorry. :)

I mean when you deal with an RMA through ocuk, they sometimes have to send it off to the manufacturers RMA department to get the replacement, but as these 8800s are ocuk branded, would it just be tested at ocuk then a replacement sent out?

If that makes sense?

Ah, I know what you mean. Well these cards are not realy "OcUK brand" they're probably Palit or something just without the stickers and box and whatnot. I imagine that OcUK will send it back to that company (whomever it is) if they get any returns. :)

Noes! :( That means my PC has all this awesome blue/black motif in it now that's about to be ruined.

Yup :( . Had my GTX been black it would have tied with all my other hardware and case :o:(. You'll most likely recieve the green PCB unless you get an old batch card which I doubt since the black PCB cards were phased out within month's for some strange, strange reason

They are not OcUK branded as such. The "OcUK" cards are most likely normally just OEM cards straight from the factory or one of the lower end AIB card's (Same card as any other but less known brand such as Palit, Expert Vision etc). So it's a pick of the draw on which you get. Although I do know for a fact that all OcUK 8800GTX OEM's are just straight from NVIDIA factories in Singapore etc and come with the two standard PCI-E power cables with a small sheet of paper and the bare card NVIDIA branded sticker and house style design. Talk about minimal :p

I hate to be a PITA but I'd consider getting the Ultra over the GTX if money isn't a concern.

Reasons: It is the king of the hill, it isn't just an overclocked GTX (It's not like the X1900XTX and X1900XT). It will go further than a GTX in overclocking. The biggest reason is it will pull more FPS and this might be the difference between playable at the highest resolution or having to drop down a resolution.

If it were me in your situation then I'd only buy the GTX if I could do with saving a few quid. If I could easily afford it then I'd get the Ultra.

Quite a lot of GTXs now come with the Ultra core, of course there's no guarantee that you get one with the Ultra core.

I thought this was just a myth. Im yet to see a GTX with an Ultra core? . I was under the impression all GTX/GTS are A2 with ONLY the ultra being A3 no exceptions and like I said Im yet to see a GTX with an A3 core?

I've seen quite a few reports from people saying that they had the A3 core on their GTXs.
