I am definitely going to get a GTX280 but i want to know if it is worth the extra cash to buy the BFG OCX or just to buy the standard one and overclock it my self?

What do you guys think?

Cheers

One more thing to check before you order is that if your psu only has 6pin pcie leads, is that the make of card you get has a 6pin to 8pin adapter supplied with it.

I've found that even the cheapest reference cards will hit roughly same core and shader clocks that the pre-overclcoked cards will reach when themselves are overclocked. However their memory overclocks for some reason tend not to reach quite the same clocks but only talking 100-125MHz or so, but still on average upto 2500 or so, just that some only have 1 year warranty. Leadtek @ £240 with 2 yrs is the one to get, it's another £36 for the cheapest BFG

For Tight Wads?

Hardly :p. I have Vista (in a box) but use XP. Tried it(dual boot), didn't think it was anything great so I removed it. My friend runs Vista x64 on X48 and two 4870s but he's thinking of moving back to XP also.

If I was buying now I'd probably go with the BFG OCX at £329 personally, or if you want to save a bit and try your luck overclocking the OC at £276.

4870 perform up to 20% worse then on vista + crossfire is a head acne in xp
