Which GTX280?

hmmmm..... XP - 3gb? noob

Noob?. This isn't a CoD4 server?. Disgruntled 13 year old I presume? :D.

Please tell me a game that requires even 3gb in XP?. :p

I have 4gb, only 3gb is used. I feel no burn and the RAM is dirt cheap so who cares? :p. XP is fine. I'm not saying one is better than the other. Just that I prefer XP but that is my opinion as I own both and have used both.

Zotac GeForce GTX 280 AMP 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

- Core Clock: 700MHz
- Shader Clock: 1400MHz
- Memory Data Rate: 2300MHz

Would that be any more of a better overclock than say, the Leaktek or any of the others listed. Just something that's always puzzled me.

You would be best buying the cheapest GTX 280 and overclocking yourself. It's easy.

Aye I know it's easy, but still would like to know if there is any advantage in the pre OC'd cards achieving higher clocks than a none pre OC'd GPU.

lol! So your saying you only need a graphics card for games and not for video/photo editing?

I was merely matching the banter sonny.... ("XP F.T.W!") - continue to use XP if you wish as i have no problem with it. Except i use applications that take up a lot of memory and i like to use more than 3gb. The applications run smoother and i can browse the net whilst editing.

Strange beast the AMP for o/c

It has a fixed 1:2 ratio for core/shaders so on basis core prob wont go above 725 then shaders max is 1450 whereas many other 280's will reach 1550-1580 shaders, however memory on AMPS regularly reaches 2600

After fantastic after sales service and having to send a card back for a prompt replacement BFG would always be my first choice in future as long as the price difference isnt too much.
