Seem to be so many different types.
Some with clusters of smds just stuck on
Others with glass over the leds designed to spread/focus light
Prices which vary wildly

Have in our house a 2 4x setups. One in the kitchen one in the living room
Have only 2 of the four standard bulbs in and its plenty.

If anything I don't really think focused light is necessary. More diffused.

And recommendations?

Do you need them to be dimmable?

I have some Samsung ones (3.3W/35W equivalent, warm white) and they're great. Not dimmable though (don't need dimming in bathroom).

I got a bargain from B&Q a few weeks ago, packs of 2 in the clearance bin priced at £3, i needed 10 (2x5 clusters in lounge), went to the checkout and they scanned at £1 a pack, then it was buy 4 get 1 free, so i got 10 LED GU10's for £4 :D

Not in the kitchen, but in the living room would be nice.
Apparently some you can control with IR so I'm guessing the diming is done in the bulb?

Ha, I doubt I will get any for 4 quid!

After buying various brands for GU10 I've now got almost all Philips, a mix of 3000K and 4000K depending on room and all dimmable.

All have been very reliable so far (30+ in the house for a couple of years) and the current ones are also silent when dimmed unlike some makes and the older Philips ones with the two tone body/cap (not that they were as bad as some, just a very slight noise when heavily dimmed even with an LED specific dimmer).

They're not cheap but so far seem worth the cost especially after the failure rate of some brands and variable colour/light output!
