Which hard drive should I store my OS on?

At the moment I'm using a 200GB Barracuda 7200.10, which is running fine, but is nearly full, so I was thinking about upgrading to a 750GB 7200.10, but was wondering if it would be an idea to run my OS off a 10k rpm HDD, even though I was suprised to hear that the 7200.10 is in certain situations faster than the WD Raptors.

Guess I'll put aside some pennies for the 150GB then, even though my rule of thumb even years ago was never spend more than a pound per GB
