Hey, I'm in need of upgrading my current storage drive (a western digital 2tb which is very old and on its way out along with almost full).

I'm thinking about a Seagate Barracuda 3TB (in the form of a Seagate STBV3000200 3TB Expansion external drive, mainly due to cost)
The drive is only for storage and accessing files from it when I desire.

Or if there are any other suggestions I would be happy to hear them.
The 1year warranty of the seagate is worrying slightly....

Go for the WD Green 3TB you get a better warranty and a better return. Sadly they don't make drives like they used to. I still have Hitachi, Seagate, Maxtor and Western Digital SATA and IDE drives all fully working. I know it is miniscule but I still have an old 13GB Seagate IDE from the 1990's that hasn't got a single bad cluster mapped out on it and it is SMART active as well. Of course they are not as fast as the latest drives but they last ten times as long.
