Which HDD is good for me?

Using one of those as a storage drive myself and it's a nice piece of kit. Expensive vs the Samsung F3 though which runs a lot quieter and has similar performance. If money no issue then sure, go with the WD if you want the 5 year warranty.

Yep, that's the one. Had one myself and very good drive. I ended up using it in another system though which is why I thought I'd give the WD a try in my primary rig. Can't fault either. Posted some benches at the time of the switch for comparison. Not much in it really although I'd say the WD has a slight edge, especially in random reads / writes.

As I said though you do get an extra 2 years warranty on the WD and their customer support is excellent. Haven't had to deal with Samsung so dunno. Maybe someone esle can advise you about that.

I can't comment on the WD but I've had the Samsung F3 1TB for quite some time now and I'm very pleased with it. It is my 3rd Spinpoint drive. (The other 2 are only 400Gb). They're quiet and reliable. (And the F3 is damn quick although the WD appears to be quicker.)
