Which HDD to go for?

I currently have a WD Blue 3D 500GB SATA SSD (WDS500G2B0A) as my only drive in my PC. I intended to pull the HDDs from my old PC and use them for storage but they're over 15 years old and one has started to fail, so I assume the other two won't be far behind since I got them at the same time.

1TB should be ample storage space as important files are backed up to the cloud and an external HDD. If I ever run out of space, it might give me the kick I need to repair an old PC I turned into a SnapRAID NAS ages ago (cloud storage was an easier solution when it started playing up but it's an expense that one day I'd like to stop).

I'm looking at the below drives but with the changes in HDD tech since I last bought one, I'm rather confused by the whole SMR thing, which drives use it, or is it something to avoid as opinions seem to be mixed. Any suggestions?
