Time for a HDD upgrade and I can't decide between the following 2 setup's

Either....

1x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB ST3500630AS SATA-II 16MB Cache

OR

2x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB ST3250620AS SATA-II 16MB Cache (RAID 0 setup)

So basically, either 1 500gb 7200.10 or 2 250gb 7200.10 setup as raid0. I've done lots of reading about whether raid0 is worth it but everywhere has different opinions.

Any help appreciated ! :)

1 drive of 500GB. Chance of failure is 1/2 that of 2 drives. RAID0 is good for speed of writes and reads, but if you are using it for storage, I would choose 1 drive over 2. Neither is particularly failproof, but one is statistically more so.

It all depends on use and your backup method should things go wrong.
