Which highend nvidia GPU cards have an HDMI output ???

there arent any topend cards with hdmi outputs. its overrated anyway, when you cant pass anything more than standard DD/DTS over the hdmi outputs. ill take an 8800gtx and 7.1 analogue over an 8600gts with hdmi every single time.

Of course - but you'd be paying for it.

If someone's on a budget and is happy with a simple setup then it's ideal.

Incidentally, if i had the choice i'd take your route too.

Cheers! :)

Looks like a nice arrangement - severely useful for a HTPC if you want decent gaming performance too.

True, although I'm hoping that if the 9800GX2 is priced right, it might solve my own gaming/HTPC GPU dilema and allow me to use my GTX in the HTPC as per j miller's arrangement.

Unfortunately, at first glance doesn't seem to do audio over HDMI though.
Wouldn't bother me too much. Like James said. Use a 5.1 or 7.1 card. Even onboard may be better than the stuff that's streamed over HDMI with 3800's and similar.

An extra coaxial or similar would be acceptable.

oh i agree, totally. horses for course as they say. my point was more regarding looking for hdmi-integrated 8800's rather than just using a seperate graphics and sound card. mid range hdmi equipped graphics cards are a totally acceptable solution for htpcs:)

i use the hdmi sound output for general pc stuff like games ect but for films i use the optical output from the onboard to the av amp you just have to set the codecs to use the optical instead of hdmi. I do not see why you cant have top 3d performance with a htpc .

So why don't you want an ATi card ? A 4870 would be perfect for what you want. 7.1 audio over HDMI and it's quite a lot faster than an 8800GTX. For £180 you can't go wrong with one.
