Hi all,
so i'm trying to make a bit of a skype area in the garage, as I take online piano lessons and that's where the digital piano lives.
I'm going round in circles a bit trying to decide whether to simply use the laptop I have as the base unit or buy a basic PC.
Both have their merits and pitfalls. The PC would be dedicated to the job and live out there, the laptop would need to be brought in, and taken out each time (as I do use the laptop sitting on the sofa when the wife is watching crap on TV)
So.
To make the pitfalls of the laptop a little easier I'm trying to find a decent hub - the last one I had wasn't great (hey it was £20!).
Then I would have the peripherals in the garage all connected to the hub, get a second laptop charger and then it's just a case of plugging two wires in and the garage setup is sorted.
Peripherals:
The hub would take -
2 x USB webcam (microsoft basic job and a gopro hero 8)
1 x USB microphone
1 x USB Keyboard with mouse.
I'd like a couple of USB ports spare in case I move to an audio interface or want to add something else in there.
But i'm just weighing up the option of doing this, or getting another PC to stay out there.
If the cost of the charger and hub outweigh the PC then the choice is obvious.
