Hi guys

So I am currently doing a build for someone. I have selected both these CPU's for the build and i am wondering what the differences are between them. What would i gain over getting the i5 over the i3. Would the i3 is better value for money?

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-4460 3.20GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £134.99
1 x Intel Core i3-4360 3.70GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £113.99
Total : £258.58 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Thanks for any suggestions:)

The i5 is a quad core cpu and has more level 3 cache, the i3 is dual core with 2 hyper threading cores.

What are the main uses of the PC?

Is it a gaming build and what graphics card are you getting??

IMHO,I would probably get the Core i5.

The main use of the PC is to be used for office type work. So it will use the integrated graphics

If it's just office based work (like Microsoft office, web browsing etc) I'd get the i3. The i3 may have two cores but the i3 is clocked at 3.7GHz and since it's not going to be doing anything particularly demanding, you can save £20 :)

I built a system with the i3-4130 and it was wonderfully snappy with office applications and Windows. You could probably go even cheaper and get a Pentium for a office PC.
