Definitely Supreme Commander.
CnC3 is the same gameplay as every CnC game worth mentioning, but with prettier graphics. Indeed it does look very nice, but that's not enough for me. I was bored after about 10 minutes in the demo, it just offers nothing significantly new.
Supreme Commander is just a whole level above CnC3 in terms of quality.
You can play huge scale matches that last hours (have done a 7person skirmish on LAN at uni that last 6 ingame hours - 10 in realtime!!) Which are just intense, and so hugely satisfying.
However if you play in the ranked online games you will find most matches are over in no time at all, being highly aggressive is the name of the game, sitting around and building up a base will lose you the game.
Anyone saying you should play CnC3 if you want a fast paced game obviously hasn't played a 1on1 ranked match. Just playing online in general is really fast paced.
I type this as I listen to Hellmarch, the title music from the first Red Alert game
