right im now deciding between 2011 socket mobo or going with a z68 im wanting somthing thats going to last me a few years and if i want upgrade in future i can do. i have 650 budget top this is the first lot im deciding:

Intel Core i7-2700K 3.50GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail
Asrock Z68 Extreme7 Gen3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
EK Supreme HF CPU Waterblock - Copper Plexi
Corsair Vengeance Blue 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

i do have the Swiftech Apogee GTZ Waterblock but i cannot find a backing plate for a socket 1155/2011 anywhere?

or

Intel Core i7-3820 3.60GHz (Sandybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor - Retail
MSI X79A-GD65 (8D) Intel X79 (Socket LGA2011) DDR3 Motherboard with FREE Thermaltake Frio Advanced Cooler & Tomb Raider Game
Corsair Vengeance Blue 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual/Quad Channel Kit (CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9B)

im currently running a q6600 with 8 gb ddr2 ram and 560ti 2gb msi gpu and a 850w psu i mainly want it for gaming but like i said i want it to last a few years to.

I would go with the 17-2600k and then upgrade to ivybridge in a year or so... will save you money in the long run against the overpriced 2011 system...

can you change water blocks?

for gaming you will not really gain any benefit from i7. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/288?vs=523
no need to get such an expensive mobo, £150 is more than enough for high overclocking
16gb of ram is OTT

with the rest of £ get a the best GPU you can afford. a 7950 is nice card, maybe hold on for kepler and hopefull price drop

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £167.99
1 x Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £144.98
1 x Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9) £35.99
Total : £360.36 (includes shipping : £9.50).

Unless you're doing something that requires huge memory bandwidth 2011 is overkill. A 1155 i7 is a fantastic processor, although if you want the rig for gaming you are better off going for the i5 2500k as hyperthreading doesn't help at all in games.

The build a couple of posts up looks like a good solution for you :)
