Which is better (SSD Comparison)

Hi guys, thinking of getting an SSD and especially with the new Kingston deal which is going to happen on Monday I need to make a decision of what to get quickly. The two SSD's I've got in mind is the Kingston V+200 120GB and the OCZ Agility 3 120GB. My question is which is better in terms of performance. I'm not too bothered about the price but obviously it's nice if I do get the Kingston and save some. My friend has also told me about the Samsung 830 128GB but the write speeds are slower than the other two I've got in mind. That said, I don't know a lot about SSD's so I'm obviously asking for a much better judgement.

TLDR: Which is better, Kingston V+200 120GB, OCZ Agility 3 120GB OR Samsung 830 128GB

Cheers,
Aaron K

Probably asking a silly question but what makes what choices better, would also help and save asking in the future!

Cheers for your contribution too :)!

Most of the sandforce based SSDs are hyped up with paper qualifications! Higher read/write figures shown in product descriptions are deceptive at best.
In day to day life things M4 and Samsung 830 has an edge because they have better random read/write speeds.
(many things we do with PCs do not depend on sequential read/writes)

EDIT: also must add compressible and incompressible data thing ;)

Thanks for that. I'm going to wait for a few more replies as I got some time to make my decision, once again thanks for the input :).

M4 and 830 have a better track record when it comes to stability, reliability and compatibility. That's what I'd look at in a drive first, as long as they aren't completely hopeless. Intel is top dog in that department usually, but they are sometimes more expensive / less performant.

BTW, for a consumer drive, read speeds, and IOPs are more important than sequential write speeds. M4 and 830 have poorer write speeds but that's not really relevant for a OS / game drive.

Nothing wrong with sandforce drives however the agility uses asynchronous nand when the drive fills up performance drops off,you want synchronous nand found on vertex 4 and crucial m4,corsair force Gt,

Samsung uses even better toggle nand memory

Well thanks for everyones input into this thread. I've gone and purchased the Samsung 830 128GB SSD as you've all persuaded me :).

Cheers again,
Aaron K

The Samsung is cheaper for basically the same drive. I read that the NAND controller is better than what other drives offer, but not realistically noticable to people like myself.

I went with the Samsung because it's cheaper and both this and the M4 have a great rep. Annoying how people make claims about reliability like it's official. I've heard the earlier sandforce controller had problems, but not heard anything bad about it lately. I went for the Samsung because the samsung controller is meant to be really good.
