Which is better?

I believe the 460 should beat the ATI card. (ATI card has 1/3 more VRAM you realize though)

If I were you, I would really just stretch your budget by £40 or so.

If you look at this the GTX 460 768MB is considerably faster. It also costs a bit more and uses more power, but overall the better choice by far (assuming you are gaming).
 
This isnt for me guys

Its for a mate of mine who wants to join us in a bit of bfbc2 and a bit of cod waw zombies every now and again

He says he doesnt want to splash out on a psu, hence the reason i suggested him the saphire card (no extra power needed)

If there are any other decent cards that dont need extra power and are better than the card i suggested then leave a link so i can show him.

May I ask what exact make and model PSU your friend has? Also, what resolution does he play at?

With the current generation graphics cards the gaming performance is closely related to the power draw. So if you get one of the very low power draw cards then the performance in modern games is almost certainly going to be poor.

If you want a relatively low power usage card that only needs one 6 pin PCIE power connection, this one is a good choice.

Ive shown him the card and he just needs to know if it will come with the molex to 6pin adaptor
 
Yes, looking at this page it comes with a 2x molex to 6pin adapter.

However, I would still check what the make and model of the PSU is before he puts money down to make sure it's up to it, as the card can draw up to 108W from the 12V rail at full load.
 
Ok, before he buys a card I would strongly suggest asking him to take off the side of his case and tell you what it exactly says on the sticker on the PSU (or send you a photo).

There is a massive range of 500W PSUs, some will handle high-power high-end cards without any issue while others will explode if you put them near a half-decent graphics card.

The make is just a standard psu

ATX-500w switching mode power supply

Thats all it says on the side of the psu

Looks pretty cheap and nasty.

What do you guys think?

Based on those specs the PSU can only supply a maximum on 264W on the 12V rail (the main rail that powers the CPU and GPU).

TBH, I would suggest he goes for a new PSU. Something like this would be a good choice (it offers 480W on the 12V rail and would allow for most modern graphics cards to be attached).

If he doesn't want to upgrade then the HD 6670 is a decent card (rated to draw a maximum of 66W). However, as you can see in this review in games like BFBC2 it doesn't perform nearly as well as the more power-hungry yet cheaper HD 5770.
