Which is better?

The hyper 212 is no where near the same as the nh-d14 would strongly advise against them when you were talking about aio and top end air coolers. The 212 is not top end it is bottom of the mid range

I've had a refurbished H100 for 15 months now. I bought it during the first wave of Corsair refurb offers for £33. It has been run 24/7 (bar the occasional re-start and part swap) for the whole 15 months, so almost 11,000 hours.

I have not had a single issue with it, and when I first got it, you would not be able to tell it apart from a brand new one if it didn't have a "refurbished" label on the box. I'm also pretty sure that the included fans and other accessories were brand new.

The refurbished units are units which were found to be faulty or leaked, any faulty components (such as the pump) or any leaking components (such as one of the L joints on the CPU block) will have been replaced, and then re-tested.

If you think about it, there is less chance of a refurb going wrong than a new one. Because the weak spot has been found and fixed and re-tested. At least thats how I see it. :)

Bought a refurbed H100 last week and fitted it last friday, yeah, I love the thing well worth £40, The fans are loud and scream at full speed when you start your system then calm down to what ever profile you choose by clicking the speed setting on the CPU block.

I've got mine on full performance mode you can hear the fans, not that loud but i'm a headphone user so it really doesn't bother me, if it keeps my system cool i'm happy.

I have Akasa Venon Vipers fitted to my H100. The system is near silent now, with the fans at low(ish) speed.

Good to know, When i'm not skint and just having enough to get me back and forth work i'll replace the fans, and hopefully try and go push pull, hopefully i can keep the 200mm fans on the top of the case aswell.

:)

I should just note that the Vipers aren't exactly recommended radiator fans, I just had some kicking about. You could probably get some far cheaper fans with better static pressure which will perform better and be just as quiet. :)

^^ This.
The initial unit goes through general QA, whereas the refurbed one has had extra checks to make darn sure it's in good nick.
Mine has always been awesome and for that price, I'll happily skip the air cooler... especially as I have so much more space in the rig as well!

Yes I know what you mean but I have an I7 2600K. Sandy Bridge don't produce as much heat as the processors Intel released afterwards like Ivy and Haswell.

I bet that Evo could get my chip up to at least 4.5ghz with good temps. Why should I pay 3 times as much for the Noctua?

I don't understand your "pay 3 times as much" malarky.
Do whatever you want.
I suggested the DeepCool Lucifer for £28.99, only £3.00 more then Evo.
Hyper 212 Evo is £26.00.
That three quid gives you a cooler much better then the 212 Evo .. in fact very close in performance to NH-D14, PH-TC14PE, K2 / Assassin, Dark Rock Pro 2 & 3, Cryorig R1, Silver Arrow, SB-E & IB-E, Archon SB-E & IB-E, and other top coolers costing much more.
